It just sends MIDI messages every time you touch or move one of it’s controls. It holds no samples, has no audio input or output, and won’t do anything useful by itself. Just to get things totally clear for those not familiar with MIDI controllers, this is not some kind of dummy MPC that can be powered by your computer.

If you want to use Logic's tap tempo you'd have to assign a key on your keyboard or a pad on your MPD. I've been at this for quite a while now with no luck. I have an mpk49, and opening the vyzex editor software allows that (tap tempo) button to send sysex messages. You can have all three enabled, if they're useful to you (and they will be stored in Logic's preference file, so set them and forget them).Īs of version 8 of Logic, it can't no longer be slaved to MIDI clock, so it won't listen to your taps on the mpd's tap tempo button.

Since this is a project setting, it will only remain active for that project (when you save it). All you need to enable there is the "Listen to MMC Input" option. In Logic, first go to project settings, synchronization, MIDI tab. If it's on "MMC/MIDI", that works.but it also works if you set it to just "MMC" ("MMC/MIDI" sends control change messages in addition to MMC messages). If you go into edit mode for transport control (by pressing EDIT and then pressing one of the transport buttons on the mpd) you'll see what it's currently set to. OK, first you need to set the transport control in your mpd preset (although I think it's already set to MMC/MIDI by default). When I press the transport controls on the MPD right now it registers in logic, but it's not communicating with logics transport controls specifically. I have the new AKAI MPD26, and I'm wanting to use it's transport controls to operate Logic 8.
